2009 - 2010 Men's Interclub Rules
- All players must be at least 18 years old. Players 18-21 must play courts 1 and 2 on the 4.5+ division.
- Team rosters and applications must be updated with current players only and submitted prior to league play.
- Players must have a current USTA or Interclub rating or be evaluated by Josh Bates and the Interclub committee.
- Additional players may be added during the rosters after the league begins. These players must have a valid rating or rated by Josh Bates and the interclub committee. If player has a lower rating than that of his play, he will be penalized 50+ points and the team will forfeit the match.
Divisions
- 4.5- division will consist of three individual teams. Players with a ranking of below 474 or USTA 4.0 are eligible to play in this division. If a player exceeds the ranking of 474, he must move up in to the 4.5 + division.
- 4.5+ division will consist of five individual teams. Positions 1, 2, and 3 will be Open players with a ranking of 525 or higher. Positions 4 and 5 must consist of players with a rating of below 525 or a current USTA rating of 4.5.
Schedule
- League play is schedule to begin September 26th/27th and continue through April 2010.
- 4.5+ matches are scheduled at 2PM on Saturdays.
- 4.5- matches are scheduled on Sundays at 9 AM.
- These times can be changed if both captains agree. Captains must be notified 18 hours prior to match time with any changes or forfeits. Failure to provide proper notice may result in forfeit of matches and penalty points.
- Mid Season party and league Assessment in December.
New Rules and Scoring
- Home team provides the courts and the USTA approved tennis balls.
- Captains must simultaneously exchange written lineups prior to match play.
- Match play follows USTA rules.
- Default times are as follows: 15 minutes loss of 1st set, 30 minutes loss of match. Please give people some consideration if they call.
- The defaulting court will be considered the lowest court and the other courts will move up accordingly.
- A defaulting team will lose the match, plus a penalty point will be deducted from that team's total. No penalty points will be given for matches forfeited prior to 18 hours of scheduled match.
- Players may not play on two teams in the same division.
- Players may play in both divisions but need to be approved by the Interclub committee.
- Matches not played due to weather must be completed by the next open date available.
- All make up matches must be completed before the start of the playoffs.
Scoring - This is NEW This YEAR
- Points will be awarded based on equality of teams.
- Total points between teams is less than 40: Winning team +4, Losing team -4.
- Total points between teams is between 40-75: Higher rated team wins +3, Lower rated team wins +5, Higher rated team loses -5, Lower rated team loses -3.
- Total points between teams is 75-100: Higher rated team wins +2, Lower rated team wins +6, Higher rated team loses -6, Lower rated team loses -2.
- Total points between teams is 101+: Higher rated team +1, Lower rated team wins +8, Higher rated team loses -8, Lower rated team loses -1.
- Team matches will be awarded points per line win. Total of 5, one point for each line won.
- It is the responsibility of both captains to email the completed scorecards in to Josh Bates at bates10s@aol.com by the following Monday. Scorecards have to be signed by both captains. Scorecards must be into Josh Bates no later than the Wednesday after the match to receive points.
Playoffs
- To be eligible for the playoffs each player must play a minimum of 6 matches during the regular season. Players that moved up or down in divisions will have to play a minimum of 6 matches for one of those divisions to qualify.
- The top 4 teams in each division will be eligible for the playoffs. The league standings will determine the seeding of the playoffs.
- Teams with the higher seed will get home court advantage.
- Defaults will count towards eligibility.
- Tie breaks will consist of head to head, sets won, and games won.
- Traveling trophy will go to the winner of the division.
- Playoffs will be held at the Village.
